A Portrait Of Shanghai, Young & Old.

I've been working a lot on my final major project recently, which is why I haven't posted much lately  (sorry!) I'm trying to keep it under-warped until the exhibition night, so instead I thought I'd post some images from a project I created when I went to China. I started this blog shortly after creating that project and so have never actually posted them on my blog!

I absolutely loved china and found the place and people fascinating. I took lots of pictures whilst away but decided to focus mainly on the people. Despite the language barrier I managed to get some great pictures and ended up making a book in which to showcase these images. I also entered some of them into the 2012 Photo Awards and got two honourable mentions in both the Lifestyle & Portrait categories :)

Welcome to the Movies...

Recently I created a photo book entitled 'Welcome to the Movies' The project was actually inspired by my dissertation topic, which is all about escapism. Here is a little bit more info about the project itself along with some example images from the book....

Welcome to the Movies.... 

Escapism in the cinema has been around since films first came out. From old black & white silent movies to futuristic sci-fi films, each film provokes an array of different emotions that take us out of our own world and into a new fantasy one, at times we become so engrossed in the film we are watching, we forget where we are. They not only allow us to escape reality but also to experience new worlds and drench ourselves in imagination. Even those films that reflect reality provide new worlds to us. 

This photographic series attempts to reflect those emotions we feel through its stylistic & staged portrayal of the viewers, reflecting the way in which films themselves are created.

Peter Dickson...

So first of I want to apologise for neglecting my blog! I've been so busy recently it's been difficult to keep up. However I am going to try and catch up on all the shoots I've done, beginning with this one...

NME Music Photography Awards...

I recently won 1st place in the Festival Category in this years NME Music Photography Awards! My image is currently being displayed as part of the NME Music Photography Awards Exhibition at Getty Images Gallery in central London.
